Change Drive Letters in Windows XP: 
Normally windows users gets a situation to change  partition name to some X :/ or Y:/  

We can do it   Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8  
also

But we can  open the Disk Management utility in Windows  from the Command Prompt itself .

This trick allows us   disk management to extend or shrink any drive partition any time anywhere



we have to  type a short command  from cmd to  Disk Management starts instantly.


The Disk Management command can be used in  all versions of Windows  like Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.


Simply Follow these steps :


These steps will start Disk Management from the Command Prompt in Windows:

it is extremely easy  to perform this operation and takes only few seconds


1:For
Windows 8 Open Run from the Apps screen or press  windows button+R  button (windows button is positioned left to left control button and right to right alt button)


[Tip: For Windows 8 press Windows+X  then directly disk management  opens]



2: For
Windows 7 and Windows XP just open all programs and then open Run from it  or  press  windows button+R  button

3: then type
diskmgmt.msc   in it and then hit the Enter or OK button.

Here we can change drive letter to any name


Note:  we are not approved to change the drive letter of the partition that Windows 7 is installed
